What kind of Shopify work do you take on?
Custom theme builds (Liquid or OS 2.0), Shopify Plus projects, B2B portals, Magento/WooCommerce/Webflow migrations, private and public app development, headless storefronts on Hydrogen, and ongoing performance/CRO work. I focus on technical builds — not on running ads or doing pure design work.
Do you work alone or with a team?
I lead Shopify development at QWERTY Experts, so for larger engagements I can pull in additional Shopify developers, designers, or QA depending on scope. For most solo freelance projects (theme builds, audits, B2B portals) it's just me.
What's your hourly rate?
US$25/hour for solo freelance engagements. Larger team engagements through QWERTY Experts are scoped separately. For most projects I prefer a fixed quote tied to a defined scope rather than open-ended hourly.
Do you build everything from scratch?
No, and I usually push back when clients ask for it. Shopify's native features and well-built free themes (like Dawn) handle 80% of requirements out of the box. I customise what's already there and build custom code only for the bits that genuinely need it. This keeps stores faster, cheaper, and easier to maintain.
How long does a typical project take?
A standard theme customisation: 2–4 weeks. A custom theme build: 4–8 weeks. A Magento → Shopify Plus migration with 10K+ products: 6–12 weeks. A custom B2B portal app: 6–10 weeks. These ranges assume timely client feedback — slow approvals are the #1 cause of timeline slippage.
Can you migrate my store from Magento / WooCommerce / Webflow?
Yes — I've done migrations from Magento (including one with 50,000 products to Shopify Plus), WooCommerce, Webflow, Square Online, and a few obscure legacy carts. The technical part is rarely the hard part; the hard part is mapping custom attributes/fields, preserving SEO via 301 redirects, and reconciling order/customer data with zero downtime.
Do you do Shopify Plus / B2B / headless?
Yes, all three. I've built B2B-only storefronts using Plus's native B2B feature plus custom apps for things native B2B can't do (multi-tier pricing logic, dealer dashboards, custom approval flows). For headless, I've built with Hydrogen + Storefront API and have opinions on when headless is worth it (rarely) vs when it's a costly mistake (often).
Can you make my Shopify store faster?
Almost always, yes. Most stores I audit are slowed down by 12–15 installed apps that all inject scripts on every page. Pulling those out, lazy-loading what's needed, and gating apps to only the pages that need them typically lifts mobile PageSpeed scores by 30–50 points. I document my full process in the Shopify pagespeed article on the blog.
Do you offer ongoing maintenance?
Yes — see the Maintenance page. Plans cover monthly hours for bug fixes, small features, performance monitoring, and Shopify version upgrades. For larger ongoing work I prefer to scope it as a separate project rather than bundling into maintenance.
Where are you based and what hours do you work?
Lahore, Pakistan (PKT, UTC+5). I overlap 4–5 hours daily with European clients and 2–3 hours with US East Coast in the morning. For US West Coast I block evening hours when needed. Most of my freelance clients are in the US, UK, EU, Australia, and the Gulf.
How do payments work?
For freelance work directly with me: 50% deposit before kick-off, balance on completion (or milestone splits for larger projects). I invoice in USD via Stripe, Wise, or bank wire. For engagements through Upwork or Fiverr, those platforms handle billing. I do not take crypto.
Will you sign an NDA?
Yes. For most engagements I'm happy to sign a mutual NDA before discussing specifics. Send yours, or I can provide a simple two-page mutual template.
Do you give equity / work for revenue share?
No. Cash only. I'm happy to discuss long-term retainers but every engagement starts with a defined commercial scope.
Can I see your code?
For published case studies, I share GitHub repos or code snippets where the client has permitted it. For private work, I can walk through architecture and patterns on a call without exposing client-confidential code.
I've already started building. Can you take over an in-progress project?
Yes, with one condition: I do a paid audit first (typically 2–4 hours) to assess the current state and confirm I can take it on without inheriting unfixable technical debt. If the audit reveals it's salvageable we proceed; if not, I'll tell you honestly and suggest a different path.
How do I start a project?
Send an enquiry with as much detail as you can about scope, timeline, and what's blocking you. I reply within 4 working hours, usually with 2–3 clarifying questions. If we're a fit, we book a 30-min call via Calendly to scope it properly.
