Shopify CRO that fixes revenue, not vanity metrics
Hypothesis-driven conversion rate optimization for Shopify and Plus stores. PDP, cart, and checkout A/B testing with real outcomes — not just lift percentages on traffic that didn't convert anyway.
Sound familiar?
Your conversion rate is 1.2% and nobody knows why
You've changed buttons, added urgency banners, swapped hero images. Nothing moves the needle. Most stores test the wrong things because they skip the audit step entirely.
You're paying for traffic that bounces
Ad spend is up, ROAS is down. The problem is rarely the ads — it's what happens after the click. Mobile PDPs, slow cart drawers, and checkout friction kill paid traffic ROI.
A/B testing apps cost more than they return
You bought a $99/mo testing app, ran two tests, saw "inconclusive" results, and gave up. Real CRO needs hypothesis-first thinking, not just throwing button colors at the wall.
Everything included
No hidden extras. No scope creep. Clear deliverables agreed upfront.
Full CRO Audit
Heatmaps, session recordings, and funnel analytics review. Documented hypotheses ranked by ICE score (Impact × Confidence × Ease).
A/B Testing Setup
Configure your testing platform (Intelligems, Shoplift, or custom). Define statistical significance thresholds. Build test variants in Liquid.
PDP Optimization
Product page rebuilds focused on conversion: image strategy, variant clarity, trust signals, mobile-first layout.
Checkout Optimization
Reduce abandonment via Shopify Checkout Extensibility (Plus) or smart UX upgrades on standard checkout.
Custom GA4 Events
Track every micro-conversion: add-to-cart, swatch clicks, video plays, scroll depth. Without proper events, tests are guesswork.
Test Sprint Retainer
Monthly retainer running 2-3 hypothesis-driven tests. Reports include statistical significance, revenue impact, and next hypotheses.
From brief to launch
Audit & Hypothesis (Week 1-2)
I audit your store, install proper analytics, and document 10-15 conversion hypotheses ranked by expected impact. We pick the top 3 to test.
Design & Build (Week 2-3)
Build test variants in your existing theme. No app bloat. QA on staging across iOS Safari, Android Chrome, and desktop.
Run & Measure (Week 3-6)
Tests run until statistical significance. I monitor daily for early signal or test failures. You get a weekly update with current lift and significance level.
Ship & Iterate (Week 6+)
Winning variants ship to production. New hypotheses queued for the next sprint. CRO is a cycle, not a one-time fix.
Questions before you commit
Honest answer: it depends on where you start. Stores at 0.8% can often hit 1.5-2% with structural fixes (PDP rebuild, checkout, mobile). Stores already at 3% need surgical tests. The biggest wins come from the first 3-5 tests — diminishing returns after that.
Speed first if mobile LCP > 4s — slow stores can't convert. After that, CRO wins. Speed is a prerequisite, but conversion logic moves the bigger needle once speed is fixed. I usually scope both in a single audit.
Industry benchmark is 1.5-2% for most niches. Above 3% is excellent. Below 1% usually means something is structurally broken — mobile UX, trust signals, or checkout friction. Diagnosis first, then fix.
Intelligems or Shoplift for most cases. Convert.com is overkill unless you're running 20+ tests a year. Avoid free apps — they don't account for Shopify's caching properly and produce unreliable results that waste months of testing time.
On standard plans: limited to thank-you page and cart drawer. On Shopify Plus: full Checkout Extensibility lets you test layouts, payment method positioning, upsell offers, and trust signals. This is one of Plus's biggest underused features.
2 weeks for the audit + hypothesis document. After that, each test sprint is 4-6 weeks (build + run to significance). For a 3-month engagement, expect 4-6 completed tests with documented outcomes.
Stop guessing what's hurting your conversion rate.
Book a 30-min audit call. I'll review your store live and tell you the top 3 things to test — no fluff.
No commitment. No sales pitch. Just a real conversation about your project.
